Buffalo, NY (WKBW) -- Gulf White Shrimp are big and full of flavor. That's why Mike Andrzejewski uses them in a new signature dish at SeaBar in downtown Buffalo.

"And they're getting scarier and scarier expensive," Andrzejewski said.

The price of Gulf White Shrimp has gone up about $2 per pound during the past few weeks.

Price increases are common this time of year, but never by that amount, said Andrzejewski.

"The availability is going down and we're going to have to start bringing things in that are imported and farm-raised," he said.

Gulf Oysters are also becoming harder to come by too. As suppliers search for alternatives, demand for oysters from other parts of the world is up, along with prices.

"From oysters to shrimp, we're starting to see prices of fish go up even though they're not from the Gulf," said Andrzejewski.
