Buffalo Police Investigating A Homicide

BUFFALO, NY ( WKBW / BPD release ) Buffalo Police Homicide Detectives are conducting an investigation into the homicide of a 61 year old Buffalo man.

Central District police officers were summoned to an apartment building Tuesday morning, May 25th, in the 300 block of Elmwood Avenue.

Officers responded to the call regarding a report that maintenance personnel had found a body at around 8:30am in one of the second floor units.

The 61 year old victim was discovered on the floor of the apartment he lived in.

"An autopsy was performed this morning at the Erie County Morgue, and the death has been ruled a homicide," according to Dennis J. Richards, Chief of Detectives. "Further investigation found that the victim had apparently died several days ago, and that his vehicle was missing," Richards said.

Police have since been able to locate the dead man's car.

"There is no indication that the deceased had relatives in the Buffalo area. Homicide Squad detectives are attempting to locate the next of kin, who may reside out of state," Richards added.
