HOLLYWOOD, CA (WKBW) -- Erin Andrews & Maksim Chmerkovsky, Evan Lysacek & Anna Trebunskaya, and Nicole Scherzinger & Derek Hough faced the judges for the final time Tuesday night for the finale of "Dancing With The Stars" on ABC and Channel 7.
The winners - Nicole Scherzinger and Derek Hough.
Nicole is a singer/songwriter with the popular group "The Pussycat Dolls." Derek Hough was Nicole's professional dance partner. His sister Julianne is a popular country singer.
Internet fans of wkbw.com picked Nicole and Derek also. As of this posting, here are the web poll results:
Nicole & Derek - 57%
Erin Andrews & Maksim Chmerkovsky - 29%
Evan Lysacek & Anna Trebunskaya - 14%
Nicole and Derek will visit "Jimmy Kimmel" and "Good Morning America" to talk about their win and "Dancing With The Stars" experience.
Keith Radford and Joanna Pasceri were joined by Andrei and Anastasia Abrashin from the Fred Astaire Dance Studios in Amherst and Orchard Park. Andrei and Anastasia agreed that Nicole should have won based on her dancing ability. The Abrashins did think fan favorite Erin Andrews should be proud of her dancing abilities despite not taking the top spot.
Here is an excerpt from Derek earlier in the season:
"It’s such a high score for so early in the competition," Derek blogged. "I’ll have to trip Nicole up or something this week so she doesn’t get an ego — just kidding!"
He also said Nicole is a lot more nervous than she lets on. But she has some unique ways of sharing her emotions while they dance.
"... while we were dancing on Monday night, I could tell it was going well because when Nicole performs, she makes noises. She goes, 'Whoo! All right! Yeah!' She makes sounds to pump herself up and keep the dance going. As a matter of fact, we’re both very vocal. We’re both talking to each other throughout the dance. It’s nice to hear that.
"However, I kept looking in her eyes and it’s unbelievable how nervous she is. Nicole plays it like she’s confident and strong but she has to get into gear like everybody else. Dancing is a scary experience for her."
Derek said although a lot of couples "had tiffs" in rehearsals, he and Nicole have good chemistry and very similar personalities so they get along great. Which is good thing. We can't believe we're saying this, but maybe DWTS could use more dancing and less drama?
