Summary: BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) -- A few Eyewitness News TV personalities are getting out of their suits and into their running shoes to team together and race in this year's Buffalo Marathon. Channel 7's Patrick Taney, Kendra Eaglin, John Disciullo, Ginger Geoffrey and Jennifer Stanonis are scheduled to be at the starting line at 7am Sunday, May 30th in downtown.
Buffalo Marathon director John Beishline has been at the job for just over a decade and says each year there's a record turnout. "Buffalo is a marathon city... every year ours has been going up about 25 percent, last year it went up 35 percent," Beishline said.
4,000 people showed up last year so that means at least 5,000 runners are expected this year. People from more than 40 states and from several different countries have already signed up for the race. Also over the years there has been an increase in female runners. "We have people come in from Germany, London... a lot of women now are running, numbers go up every year," Beishline said.
Expect the same fast, flat course this year which will take you many places including the Erie Basin Marina, by Olmsted Parks, through downtown Buffalo, various neighborhoods, and ending at the Convention Center.
