CAMBRIDGE, MA ( BostonHerald.com ) The Boston Herald and BostonHerald.com breaking the story of a Buffalo connection to the Times Square bombing probe.
Laura Crimalidi reporting that a shocked dad said he had no idea his daughter in Cambridge had married Aftab Ali Khan, one of the Pakistani men detained last week in connection with the Times Square bombing probe.
"I never knew she was married to someone named that," said Raymond Sylla of Buffalo, N.Y. "Wow."
On November 17, 2009, Khan married U.S. citizen Lila-Charlotte Fatou Sylla, 29, in a ceremony performed by a justice of the peace at Cambridge City Hall in Massachusetts according to a marriage certificate.
But Raymond Sylla said as far as he knew, his daughter wasn't married to anyone. He said she lives in Cambridge, practices midwifery, teaches African drum and dance, and has three children fathered by a different man.
Aftab Ali Kahn had come to the United States in August 2008 on a fiance visa sponsored by an American soldier he met while working as a convoy commander for the U.S. military in Kuwait, according to Macarius and Barry D. Hoffman, the Pakistani Counsul General in Boston. But he did not marry that woman and that visa expired within three months of his arrival.
