TONAWANDA, NY (WKBW) -- Police say 26 year old Adam Kruse from Buffalo was driving in his Pontiac with a relative, southbound on River Road in the Town of Tonwawanda around 5:50am Thursday morning. When they got between Sheridan and Sawyer the driver decided to try and pass a car in front and went into the oncoming lane. The driver started losing control of the car, couldn't get back over in time, and hit a car head on. "Weren't able to negotiate that move as well as they would have liked but before they could regain control and get back into to the proper direction of travel, another vehicle coming northbound collided with them," Lieutenant Nick Bado, with the Town of Tonawanda Police Department, said.
Police say they are looking at alcohol and speeding as factors in this crash. It's believed the two were up all night after leaving a concert the night before. "I'm not sure after the concert let out where they went from there... but it appears they were on their way home from wherever they started that night," Lieutenant Bado said. "Alcohol as a factor, they're also looking at speed as a factor so those two things contributed to their decision to make the move they did and ultimately cause the accident."
Police say the two were taken to Erie County Medical Center for serious injuries to the head and chest. The person in the other car is a 42 year old from Michigan. He was treated and released from Kenmore Mercy Hospital the same day.
Charges are pending against the driver in the Pontiac.
