Buffalo, NY (WKBW) -- Local artist Ed Hogle thought he might be able to give a gift to the President personally.

Then he asked Congressman Brian Higgins to be the middleman.

Now, it looks like Hogle will have to simply mail his artsy creation to the White House directly.

"We have to follow protocol," Hogle said.

The owner of EB Iron Art, in Buffalo's Black Rock neighborhood, created a metal sculpture of the Presidential Seal as a thank you to Mr. Obama, who is scheduled to visit Buffalo on Thursday.

"This is the finest piece of art we've made," Hogle said. "It's unbelievable."

It took five artists three days to make the three-and-a-half foot sculpture, which is currently on display at Higgins' Buffalo office in the Larkin Building.
