The bankruptcy-court approved auction for non-real estate items for the Statler Towers is set for 10 a.m., Saturday at Cash Realty & Auctions, on Main St. Items like cleaning and construction equipment and imported marble flooring will be auctioned off. Meanwhile, a State Supreme Court Justice has given the City of Buffalo and the building's legal team six weeks to sort out differences over the Statler's value. The city puts it at $1.2 million, but a lawsuit claims the building has a negative value. Both sides are due back June 9.
Waterfront restaurant Doug's Dive will open on tomorrow afternoon at the Small Boat Harbor. Customers will find a new menu, an outdoor food service area and a new soft serve ice cream area. Doug's Dive invested in new equipment and expects to increase its summer employment by 30%. The Small Boat Harbor opens Saturday.
Last summer, Landies Candies ran the ice cream operation at Doug's Dive, now Landies is focusing on its wholesale and retail chocolate operations. Landies is celebrating its first anniversary at the Walden Galleria on Saturday. It will feature special prices and a clown from 2-4pm. Landies also has a location at the Tri-Main building in Buffalo.
