Officers with the NFTA Police Department are the targets of a state investigation for abusing overtime and double-dipping.

As many as eight officers are accused of working on the transit authority's clock, while also getting paid at part-time jobs for the same hours.

Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority is being audited by Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli's office.

A spokesman for the Comptroller told Eyewitness News - auditors met with members of the police force on Tuesday morning to discuss the matter.

Lawrence Meckler, executive director of the NFTA, said his office learned of the allegations last year and conducted an internal investigation.

The audit is ongoing and a draft report on its findings is not expected for several weeks.
