Buffalo, NY (WKBW) -- Gov. David Paterson gave members of the Legislature an ultimatum on Tuesday: pass a budget or stay in the Capital five days per week until a balanced spending plan is passed.

"Pass a responsible and balanced budget as expeditiously as possible is what we need," Paterson said during a late afternoon news conference in the Red Room at the Capitol.

"Then and only then will we be in a place where we can begin to recover from the economic turmoil of the last 24 months," he said.

Paterson announced $624 million in additional savings to cover the widening deficit, which now stands at more than $9.2 billion.
