BATAVIA, NY (WKBW) -- Congressman Chris Lee (NY-26) was joined today by the leading Republican on the House Agriculture Committee, Rep. Frank Lucas (OK-3), for a forum with the 26th District’s Agriculture Advisory Board. Today’s forum covered a wide range of issues important to Western New York’s agriculture community, including the pricing system of dairy products, agricultural trade concerns, tax reform, and the upcoming 2012 Farm Bill, to name a few.

“As a leading voice in Congress for our nation’s agriculture community, I appreciate Ranking Member Lucas coming to Western New York to hear directly from our region’s growers, dairymen, and farm bureau representatives,” said Congressman Lee. “We had a great discussion on a number of issues extremely important to Western New York’s agriculture community, and I know the advisory board members present at today’s forum appreciated being able to speak directly with the top Republican on the House Agriculture Committee.”

The Agriculture Advisory Board is one of seven citizen panels Congressman Lee has established to ensure he is getting the best advice from leaders and concerned citizens around Western New York. For a complete list of members of the 26th District’s Agriculture Advisory board, please click HERE.

"I was pleased to be a part of Congressman Lee's forum today,” said Ranking Member Frank Lucas. “This was a great opportunity to meet members of the agriculture community in his district, recognize the contributions our farmers make for this nation and around the world, and discuss the challenges our producers continue to face. We need more members like Congressman Lee who understand and appreciate agriculture because now more than ever it is important that we stand strongly together against those who are completely out of touch with production agriculture, rural communities, and our current economy,"

“The 26th District’s Agricultural Advisory board includes a broad and experienced group of leaders in Western New York’s agriculture community,” added Congressman Lee. “Western New York’s family farms inject pride into our communities, create jobs for our workers, and lead our efforts to achieve energy independence, and I look forward to continuing to work with both the Advisory Board and Ranking Member Lucas to strengthen Western New York’s agriculture community.”
