Why would taxpayers wait until today to file taxes? Most likely because they owe money. The National Retail Federation says only 65.5 percent of taxpayers are expecting a refund, down from 68 percent last year. Of those getting a refund, 44 percent will pay down debt. 13 percent will treat themselves to items like a new television, furniture or car. 40% will stash their refund away in savings. 29% will use it for everyday expenses and 10% will go on vacation.
SUNY Fredonia has chosen Maplevale Farms as its primary food service supplier. Maplevale Farms is a a family-owned business in Clymer, also in Chautauqua County. Since Maplevale's warehouses are only 40 miles from campus, delivery trucks will save 18,000 miles a year. The former supplier was Sysco in Pittsburgh. The deal should have an impact on other local companies since Maplevale carries many locally made products.
Martin's Fantasy Island will hold its annual job fair this Saturday, April 17 from 10am to 2pm at the park. More than 400 seasonal jobs are available.
