Hundreds of Western New Yorkers paid tribute to Sergeant Frank World. They were lining Sheridan Drive waving flags, and carrying signs of support as the Marine's body left the funeral home in Tonawanda. Many people say they just wanted to show the family that they appreciate the sacrifice. The 25 year old Marine was killed by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan April First.
Sergeant Frank World always dreamed of being a Marine. His wife told us recently that the father of two from Buffalo's Riverside section was following in his father's footsteps.
World's own children, Jacob and Lilly, are too young to understand today's somber ceremony. The two month old baby never had the chance to meet her father.
World's brother spoke following the private service and burial. Larry World thanks all of the supporters today. He tells Eyewitness News that the family has been touched in ways "words can't express."
