Budget Crisis: Local Schools Plan Cutbacks

Buffalo, N.Y. (WKBW-TV) - Nearly every school district in Western New York bracing for tough times as the state deals with its fiscal crisis. More than 300 jobs are on the chopping block under proposed district budgets throughout the area.
Districts are faced with millions of dollars in state budget cuts a dilemma many administrators and lawmakers say won't go away when Albany eventually passes the now delayed state budget.
Many districts are trying to cut "across the board" without affecting curriculums. But many are combining classrooms---- increasing the amount of students in each, slashing extra-curricular programs, art, and music.
