Celebrating Hispanic Heritage At The Puerto Rican Day Parade

BUFFALO, NY ( WKBW ) The Puerto Rican Day Parade kicked off at 1p.m. from Buffalo's City Hall Saturday, marching north up Niagara Street to Porter Avenue.

Thousands enjoyed the 9th Annual Puerto Rican Day Parade the Western New York community. The event brought opeople together in a celebration full of music, dance, great food and pride.

Friends and neighbors from all over Western New York and Southern Ontario with different backgrounds shared in the great warmth, dignity and history of the Puerto Rican and Hispanic cultures Saturday in downtown Buffalo.

Sunny skies and perfect temperatures brought out cultural groups, police, fire, and emergency services agencies along with entertainers, pageant winners, and community groups.

Channel 7 is proud to support all the Hispanic Heritage Month events.

Statement of Purpose The primary purpose of the Puerto Rican Day Parade of Western New York Association, Inc., is to host a parade inclusive of all people and communities. The parade will empower the community, and in particular our youth, by promoting civic pride, celebrating the history of Puerto Rico, and increasing awareness of Latin America's diverse cultural heritage. Association members will be cultural ambassadors, historical preservationists, and civic activists.
