Channel 7's Linda Pellegrino found out that the Easter season is full of Polonia Pageantry and traditions.

In addition to thousands flocking to the Broadway Market for traditional Polish foods and decorations, the experience celebrates proud ethnic traditions.

Many churches in the Broadway Fillmore district will have special services on Easter. Then, Monday is "Dyngus Day!" The day after Easter and the Lenten season is celebrated with ceremonial "pussy willows" that women chase men with, food, drink, dance and music.

Representatives of St. Casimir's Church released their plans for Easter to Eyewitness News:

On Easter Sunday, April 24, 2011 at 10:00 AM, St. Casimir's will celebrate a Resurrection Procession and Easter Mass. St. Casimir's is located on the corner of Weimar Street and Casimir Street.

The Procession, in full garment and pageantry, with the crucifix and in Polish Tradition will be led down Cable Street. Christ has risen and we invite you all to see how St. Casimir's Oratory, has risen within the community despite all the controversy with the Kaiser town Churches.

Did you know, as the media, that as a directive from the Bishop of the diocese of Buffalo, St. Cosimo's Oratory has received special privileges. Instead of celebrating mass for special liturgies such as weddings, funerals, etc. we have full mass privileges. We stand self- sufficient within the diocese.

All of our programs, bingo, religious education, youth group, soon to be community out reach programs, fund raising, etc. are in full swing and supported by the Diocese of Buffalo. Hear how St. Cosimo's, a historic landmark, supports this community and how the community has fought to maintain this cathedral.

Our church, in all it's Byzantine glory, remains a beacon in our community. Our Easter tomb and sanctuary is like no other in Buffalo.
