John Borsa is a western New York native. He grew up in Canandaigua, in the Finger Lakes. He joined the 7 News team as a full-time reporter in November, 2003 after working for WKBW part-time.

He landed his first broadcasting job at WHAM AM-1180 in Rochester while attending SUNY Brockport. He wore many hats there, including overnight anchor, night side reporter and morning show co-producer.

From there, John moved to WXXI AM-1370 as a reporter, anchor and stringer for National Public Radio, covering business news at Xerox, Kodak and Bausch & Lomb. He traveled throughout the northeast, covering the crash of TWA Flight 800, the 1996 Presidential Campaign and, of course, the weather. John also worked as an Assignment Editor for the Ten O’clock News at WUHF TV-31, the FOX affiliate in Rochester.

In 1999, John moved to Buffalo and shortly thereafter, filled the role of Anchor and Executive Producer at WBEN AM-930.

He’s the recipient of numerous broadcasting honors, including the 1997 Best Spot News Award from the New York State Broadcaster’s Association.
