Desiree Marie Wiley grew up in Lockport New York and graduated from Lockport Senior High School in June 2009, with an advanced regents diploma. She studied journalism at Buffalo State College and at the age of 20 received her Bachelor’s degree in journalism with a concentration in political science and economics. Desiree was an economics tutor and a contributing author in “The World of Economics.” For the past six years she has been raising awareness for donation with Upstate New York Transplant Services.
She is a strong advocate for continuing education and has shared her personal philosophy of “Education Changes Everything” throughout New York State.
Desiree has been dancing since the age of nine and has experience teaching and choreographing. She has held the title of 1999 Little Miss Buffalo, 2000 Child Model of the Year (IMTA), 2009 Niagara County Junior Miss, Miss Buffalo 2010, Miss Niagara 2012 and is currently Miss Empire Rose 2013. In July she competed for the title of Miss New York, a preliminary to the Miss America pageant, and placed third runner-up. Channel 7 is excited to add her to the news team and she shares that same excitement. “I look forward to starting my career in my hometown and I’m grateful to work with such an experienced team,” says Desiree.
