David Muscoreil founded Muscoreil's Bakery more than 30 years ago, after being inspired by his grandmother who owned Muscoreil's Restaurant on Buffalo's West Side.

He still uses her traditional recipes, though today's designs feature everything from zombies to ocean dreams and everything in between. But the real heart of Muscoreil's stems from two simple words: "I do."

"The wedding industry is what we do," Musoreil said. "We do over 900 weddings a year. This time of the season, we'll sit down with 12-15 brides a day and consult with them for upcoming weddings."

Muscoreil says the current wedding trend is simple and elegant and each meeting begins with a description of the bridal gown, since he doesn't bake for weddings, he creates works of art.

Muscoreil's also specializes in cookies, pastries, birthday, first communion cakes and more.

Muscoreil's, at 3960 Niagara Falls Boulevard in North Tonawanda, is undergoing an expansion. "Right now, we're expanding our bistro where we do breakfast, lunch and dinner," Muscoreil said. "And now we're looking to hit the web with some of our products."

It's all part of a high tech approach based on some sound advice his grandmother gave him at her restaurant. "One day she was making chicken soup and she took the stalk of the celery, chopped the heart of the celery off, and said, 'You make the chicken soup with the heart."

Muscoreil says his grandmother taught him that you must have a passion for whatever job you choose. And he tries to instill that in his 52 employees.
