Lancaster, N.Y. (WKBW-TV) Lancaster Police are investigating after two people were found dead at the Motel 6 on Freeman Drive Sunday.

Investigators say the bodies of a 28 year old woman and a 23 year old man were found just after 12 p.m.

Police say earlier that day they were contacted by the man's relatives who were concerned about his welfare. They said they had not heard from him for several days.

Investigators located the man's car in the parking lot and determined that he checked into the Motel 6 on Friday in the afternoon.

Police believe the woman was the man's girlfriend.

Investigators say the exact cause of deaths remains under investigation but it is suspected to be drug overdoses as a result of intravenous use of opiates. Police found drug packaging and paraphernalia inside the room and have submitted to the Erie County Central Police Services laboratory for testing.
